Microsoft hauled into court in piracy case

SOFTWARE GIANT and music industry friend Microsoft was dragged squeaking before a court and accused of music piracy.

The former drummer for the defunct popular beat combo Ink & Dagger, Ryan McLaughlin, had filed a lawsuit against Vole for allegedly stealing his band's songs.

It does not appear that Microsoft was involved in any file sharing racket. The outfit just installed three of Ink & Dagger's songs into the "Amped" snowboarding video game for the Xbox console.

Responding to the case, a spokesVole said that Microsoft respects intellectual property rights and enters into licensing agreements for music and media in its games and for other products.

Strangely this is the complete opposite of what McLaughlin says. In a court filing in a US District Court in Philadelphia, the drummer says he was outraged that his artistic integrity had been so brazenly violated by Vole.

I bet Microsoft contacted or cleared the song use with someone that represents the bamd. It doesn't seem like a big company would be stealing. As strict as Microsoft is about program sharing, it would be funny to find out that they are program sharing themselves.

Somehow I think Microsoft will get out of this one.

I'm sure they go to court all the time. They have some of the best lawyers in the world. This isn't going to kill them.

The only question is how much they will have to pay for careless infringement.

Microsoft piracy

It doesn't matter how much it will cost. Do you know how much they're worth? Yes, they do have the best lawyers around, so I'm very certain there won't be a problem, and they'll get out of it.

Even if they had to pay a few million $$, Bill Gates would just pull it out of his wallet

Im sure they are in lawsuits all the time but only 1/500 are publicised.

They will not have to pay too much. Any amount they offer, no matter how low, will be good enough! That's the thing about being rich, a high amount to us, isn't a high amount to them.
