Rep Power: 3 | Need Help With Windows 2000-Pro Hello All,
I just bought a PC with Windows 2000-Pro on it from a auction. When I start it up, the 2000 logo screen come on, then this pass-word window come up. I don't have the the option of "cancel" on this pass-word window.
The message says " The system could not log you on. Make sure name and domain name are correct, then type your password again. Letters must be typed using the correct case. Make sure the Caps Lock is not accidentally on."
I have tried taking the battery out for a hour or 2, then re-installing it back. I've went into " safe-mode"...."safe-mode with command prompt".........comes back to this password thing.
Does anybody know how to go about getting into this PC ?? Or without a "password" all together ??
Thanks in advance !!
P.S. I want to give this PC to my nephew before he starts school !!

Rep Power: 0 | well... if you are talking about the boot screen, not the logon screen, I can help you. If this is a windows-set thing, then you will need to spend a lot of time and effort fixing the problem. This is easy but is time consuming... |

Rep Power: 0 | so... this is an account thing? It appears that you have already got a user account on your computer and someone forgot to give you the details. Have you ever used a system before XP? they use a different type of login authentication. Instead of a welcome screen, they have a dialog box in which you type in your account credidentials. This can also be set in XP, but thats a different story.
To bypass, all you have to do is create a new user with admin privelages. To do this, press ALT-CTRL-DEL and it will open the task mnager. Go to File > New Task and tpye in CMD.EXE
you then will have the command dialog. from here, type in (without quotes) "NET USER ADD username" and then "NET USER LOCALGROUP ADMINISTRATORS /ADD Username"
Reboot and try to login as that user. |

Rep Power: 3 | you might already have an administrator account. Administrator pw:admin or leave blank. It depends on how the comp was set up.

All your suggestions DOES NOT work. I've tried them all. Now I'm getting a "system error" that says something about "plug & play" can't load some thing like drivers or something to that effect. I have a "legal" copy of XP-Pro upgrade & that won't even work
This is so frustrating !!!!

Rep Power: 6 | There's a email setting in VB that tells VB to store the emails before sending them out. For some darn reason, every now and then it sets itself to 10 (default). Meaning, it won't send out any emails until 10 emails are accumulated. So, all I did was set it back to one. Ta da!
