Windows XP - printer

When I go away for a few days I inplug my surge protector so everything is off.
When I returned this time everything but my printer works. It appears there is no power getting to it.I checked the connection plug and it is secure.
any ideas? It is an HP printer.all in one.about one year old. And the computer is HP less than a year old.

The printer is 2610 photosmart all in one, computer a1330n compaq presario. But I have solved the problem by stumbling around.I removed to printer power cord from the power surge protector and plugged it into the wall outlel and it started right up.Then I removed another plug from my surge proctector and plugged that into the place where the printer cord was plugged when it wouldnt work. That outlet worked fine for the other cord.I then put the printer cord into the different outlet and it workes fine.Im sure that if I would have returned the printed cord the origional outlet it would have worked.
