| Replace the default boot screen • Get a boot screen that you would like to use. Make sure that it is called NTOSKRNL.exe.
• Place your new boot screen in your root directory (most likely C:/).
• Restart your computer and go into safe mode (Press F8 while your computer is booting up. Do this before the boot screen. If you are unsure when to press F8, just tap it every two or three seconds when your computer starts booting up).
• Double check that you are in safe mode. If not, please restart and go to safe mode.
• Make sure that the command prompt is open. (If it's not, navigate to Start > Run and click on Run. Type in "cmd" in run and press enter).
• Navigate to your base directory (Type in "cd.." and press enter and repeat that process until the blinking line is preceded by C:/).
• Navigate to your Windows directory by typing "cd windows" and pressing enter.
• Type in "delete ntoskrnl.exe" and press enter".
• Type in "cd.." and press enter to get back to your base directory (C:/).
• Type in "move c:/ntoskrnl.exe c:/windows/ntoskrnl.exe".
• Restart your computer normally.Your new boot screen should show up. If not, then there was an error along the way. |
