Are you saying that your computer reboots when you run the "CMD" command?

What does it do when you run the "COMMAND" command?

Restart

My computer likes to restart itself when I am doing a numbr of different things. I have many different anti-virus programs, and have scanned numerus times but nothing is detected. Does anyone know what this could be? It's VERY frustrating for a college student!
Thanks

kzurbuch:

The problem is that rebooting can be caused by a huge number of factors, like a poorly grounded motherboard or a weak power supply.

If this rebooting happens randomly, I would first look to hardware issues.

hmm... Will is right.

But I would like to try somethings , with my little ability. When you computer goes for restart ?

1. When you open command prompt ? [ i mean run ->cmd/command]
2. Try to open task manager ? [ I mean ctrl+alt+del]
3. Try to open msconfig ? [ I mean run->msconfig]
4. Try to open registry Editor ? [ I mean run -> regedit]

If these are "yes" for you [ may be for all , may be for some of them ] , then you have to do some google. Because , I have got this problem once . And with complete wonder , I discovered that , there is no particular solution for this problem. Different viruses in differnet ways do these thing. I can't find any particular solution. There aremany solutions given in many forums. Most of them not work for all the times, sometimes it works ! Now you have to try them.

May be it will be totally disgusting. I felt that way , and decided to format whple system drive and then Install OS again. You may think about that also.
