I friend of mine called me today, she said that her PC (running XP-Pro) has some how got a "password" on the log-in part of XP. She never put a pass word on her PC. I told her step by step this:
1- go into safe mood, then go to your system-restore option, restoring at least a month before the problem happened.
She called back & said, no go, still ask for a pass word. I asked her if she had her other PC, yes, cool, go check your e-mail. I sent her the following:
Starting System Restore Tool from Command Prompt
1.. Start your computer to Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
2.. At the command prompt, type:
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and then press
ENTER.
3.. Follow the instructions on the screen to begin restoring your computer to a previous, functional state.
She called back after a hour, all is fine
