SpeedUp Your Connection By 20% (Cable/DSL Users Only)

1.Log on as "Administrator".
2. Run - gpedit.msc
3. Expand the "Local Computer Policy" branch.
4. Then expand the "Administrative Templates" branch.
5. Expand the "Network" branch.
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left pane.
7. In the right window pane double-click the "Limit Reservable Bandwidth" setting.
8. On the settings tab check the "Enabled" item.
9. Change "Bandwidth limit %" to read 0.
10. Then go to your Network connections Start=>Control Panel>Network & Internet connections>Network Connections and right-click on your connection. Then under the General or the Networking tab, (where it lists your protocols) make sure QoS packet scheduler is enabled.

It may take effect immediately on some systems. To be sure, just re-boot.

Speed up connection

Hey, thanks for the tip. That's one I hadn't heard of, and I'm all about speeding things up. This sounds like a fairly simple task to save a fair amount of connection time. I have cable, and it's fast already, but I'm always looking for ways to make even better. Thanks again.

Exclamation Is this a useful tweak ?

First of all , I have seen this tweak in many places [including this forum ]

That tweak is about increasing b/w . A bit glimpse is about like this ..

go to this location ..

run ->gpedit.msc -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QoS Packet Schedeuler

Then at right panel , we have to select "limit reservable bandwidth" , right click it , select properties, then select "enabled" with 0% in Box.

Now tweak makers are demanding that , if your Qos Packet Scheduler is enabled in network card option , then you can feel that 20% b/w is increased.

My question : is this really true ? I mean how ms could be so dumb , they eat our 20 % b/w or this is all fake !!

This tweak is a myth.

To quote Microsoft:
As in Windows 2000, programs can take advantage of QoS through the QoS APIs in Windows XP. One hundred percent of the network bandwidth is available to be shared by all programs unless a program specifically requests priority bandwidth. This "reserved" bandwidth is still available to other programs unless the requesting program is sending data. By default, programs can reserve up to an aggregate bandwidth of 20 percent of the underlying link speed on each interface on an end computer. If the program that reserved the bandwidth is not sending sufficient data to use it, the unused part of the reserved bandwidth is available for other data flows on the same host.
