Vista eats RAM?

Hello guys!

I tried the vista public beta, which was free for a year with my laptop. After I got the vista installed, I just setup'd all and then I noticed very bad thing. It was very slow to open anythin in the computer. It was really terrible. Vista was looking great, but I didn't have any chances to use it, because of the really bad lag. Does vista require so much ram? I do have 512 RAM in my laptop, but seems to be, that that's not enough. Any ideas, that can you tweak it to eat more little ram or should I buy more ram?

When it comes to your OS (Windows/Vista in particular) going with the bare minimum is not the best idea.
