Problem - Windows 2003 Server hang or frozen

One Saturday, we noticed that our domain controller became unresponsive. The only solution that I had was to reboot the server. Upon closer inspection of the server, I determined that the problem was caused by insufficient system resources; the reason for this was most likely due to a program or service using far too many resources. I logged a call with Microsoft’s support team; they confirmed that the problem was indeed caused by a program or driver using too many resources. Is there any performance logging/monitoring utilities that should be installed so that we can pinpoint exactly what is using up system resources?

Hey tmluke,

Are you utilizing the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit? It comes directly from Microsoft and the description of the utility reads...

"The Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools are a set of tools to help administrators streamline management tasks such as troubleshooting operating system issues, managing Active Directory®, configuring networking and security features, and automating application deployment."

At the bottom of the web page you'll find another set of resources that may also be of help...

Related Resources

2. Windows Deployment and Resource Kits
3. Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit
4. Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tool Updates

And below that there's a whole 'nother set of downloads which may assist.

I hope this info helps. I'm not very server savvy so I'd like to learn whatever solution you discover.

Lyte

The problem right now is that i cannot load the user profile of administrator account for windows server 2003. It says that it cannot load due to user account permission and a corrupted account. Is there anyone have ideas on this one?

Hey tmluke, sorry for the delay.

What message are you getting? Does it log you in under a "default" profile?

when i restarted the server, it did not load the administrator profile or the local profile. It says that the profile is either corrupt or there is not enough security permission on it

I'm goggling but not coming up with anything. Have you tried going to Microsoft and posting the question on one of their forums? I would try Microsoft's Technet or Microsoft's Window's Server 2003 Solution Center.

Sorry we couldn't provide you the answer here.
