XP is lame

Usually these days Win95 OSR2.5 with various patches and updates for retro gaming.

2000 is quite good

I use Win XP Pro SP 2
If you lock some windows services, turn off firewall and use some additional software, OS should work for you without reinstallation for long.

I use WinXP SP2 too. With some tweaks it works fine and I have no any problems. It works faster than Win98/2000 and has a good stability.

P.S. My system is Duron 800, Via KM400, RAM 256Mb PC3200
