Windows XP

Windows XP is definately the best version of Windows so far. It is extremely fast, I like the interface (although I've heard some people don't), and... it's fast. I have dial up on my XP and it is still incredibly fast. Online games and movies flow very smoothly, unlike on my Mac. I just wish it had DSL, then it would go really fast.

I too have Windows XP on 2 computers, but I have just recently bought a 17" iMac G5 from Apple. Windows is mainly a operating sytem designed for gaming and such...the Mac is not. That is why you would have problems on it for gaming. Remember that, the Mac is not designed for gaming. It is more designed for work, such as designing. The Mac is the #1 operationg system of choice by professional artist to do design work on.

I disagree with what you say about windows being just an operating system for gaming, that is rubbish in my opinion. Windows have always aimed to try and meet everyone's requirements, which I believe they have managed to do. Even though MAC is commonly used by designers etc, it is possible to do similar things on windows.

Back to the topic I believe that Windows is definitely the best OS have some up with so far I love the user friendly interface.

Windows is bloated and memory hungry.. it gets worse with each release in this respect.. whatever happened to writing code that would fit on a floppy.. now we need entire huge segments of our hard drives for even the simplest applications, function-wise. Windows has become a joke. The punchline though is it is so widely used.. we need to grin and bear it.

I can remember when Windows would run fine with a few megs of RAM.. now 256mb isn't even enough.

I think that the fact such a big program takes up a lot of memory goes without saying. But you have to remember that between the time that Windows brings out a new OS technology has advanced massively, meaning that their is more space on the computer away.

it takes up alot of memory on pcs, but i do think its very helpful, and its always update and its stuffed with some helpful extras.
although it does cost quite abit of money... that is its only downfall i think

I'm about to buy a new video card (with 128mb RAM) and upgrade my computer RAM from 256mb to 2GB.. hopefully that will help!
