If windows only boots in safe mode everytime you turn on your pc, then its one of two things:

1. your file system is corrupt, meaning your harddrive has bad sectors.
2. windows installation is damaged, core files have been tampered with or removed.

If you have a windows xp home cd, but this in, and use the repair/install option to fix the issue, I have had to do this twice, once with win xp pro and once with win 95.

The problem might be with your boot.ini file.

Lemme peep at mine and see what it looks like. I too have XP Home Edition. BRB

Okay, try this... be sure not to change anything!

To view the Boot.ini file

1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
2. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
3. Under System Startup, click Edit.

This is how mine looks....
Code:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Does yours say the same thing?

Lyte

hers would only be the same if she had the same disk configuration, if she has another disk, it would be differant, or if she had more than 2 partions it would differant.

This is true! I just want to see if this file has been corrupted and/or is different beyond just an additonal hd or partition.

In truth, it could be hardware or software! Don't you just love that?! Why not go bare bones and just hook up the HD, monitor, video card and see if it boots properly then.
