Rep Power: 3 | Photoshop or GIMP. I have used both and like each one about the same. Both have some pros and cons but GIMP is free so it benefits me more since I only use photoshop at school.

Rep Power: 3 | I like Paint Shop as well... but lately I've really fallen in love with Macromedia Fireworks. You can do some really cool stuff with that program. AND it's integrated in their Software Suite with my Dreamweaver and Flash programs. I bought the MX Suite and it came with it. NICE software suite. LOVE what I can do with it. Highly recommend it.
I also use Photoshop CS pretty regularly.

Rep Power: 0 | Adobe Photoshop is a very powerfull tool and I think it is the best. But Paint Shop Pro is a good alternative. I use PSP and I didn't have any problems. Corel is the traditional tool and is still good for simple or medium jobs. For more complicated ones, Photoshop or Paint Shop is the solution. |

Rep Power: 3 | Fireworks is awesome. Each can do practically the same thing, it is just what user environment you prefer.

Rep Power: 0 | I have been using Photoshop for quite some time. i tried Paint Shop Pro, Photo Impact and others, but I think Photoshop is better hands down. A strong piece of software, pricy a bit, but very very good.

Rep Power: 2 | I use Macromedia Fireworks, but only because it can with dreamweaver. It is not as good because it doesn't have all the features, but for my small needs, it works quite well. |

Rep Power: 0 | Well, photo editing is a thing, that really have differences between the programs. All the professional designers are using photoshop cs 2 I think, but for a normal home user, GIMP would be enough. Myself I am using photoshop cs 2 even when I am not a good designer. It's just a cool program and it has very much options. Also all the internet tutorials are made for photoshop, so I don't have any use for some program, that doesn't have much tutorials. Photoshop just rules the photo editing markets these days. Of course theres a big difference in the prize, but photoshop provides quality. |
