Bypassing power-up password for Compaq Evo

Hi guys, I have a Compaq Evo with what I think has a Phoenix Bios.

I am trying to reset the Cmos memory and have read on a few ways as to how to do it.

I have tried some of the common backdoor passwords that I have found and have had no luck. I have taken the button battery out and left it over night and it still asks for the power-up password! I have been looking for the Bios overide jumper but have no idea what I am looking for and nothing logical seems to be there.

Can anybody please give me advice or know why it is not resetting? It would be greatly appreciated!

#Edit# - figured out the problem - I wasnt looking good enough! There is a small password reset button next to a set of jumpers!

I'm glad to hear that you have it sorted out!

You fixed it before I even saw your post.

Was the button labeled in any way?

Yes it was!!! LOL ... It was labelled password reset! But in my defence, it was quite well hidden behind cables!!! It was alittle confusing because the label had a line directing you to where the password reset botton is, but the line ends btween a set of jumpers and the button. But I tried both (jumpers + button) and it worked!

Thanks for coming back and posting the details!

So many of our posters ask a question, receive the answer, and then don't return until they have another question.
