Rep Power: 3 | Compression Software I would like to which is the best compression software. I use WinZip but I would like to have something better compression wise.
Any advice on this?
Do these compression softwares work on all kinds of data? Like video files? For audio we can compress by rippers, I think. |

Rep Power: 3 | I use WinRaR which gives great compression archives. You can use these compression softwares to compress something like documents, ebooks, some softwares, uncompressed images, etc. but it cannot compress the video files to great extent.Regarding video compression softwares i dont have much idea though. I heard there is something called "Virtual DUB" which can be used to encode video |

Rep Power: 3 | I like Winrar better than Winzip
RAR files are more compressed than Zip so take up slightly less space.
I still use an old version of Winrar (version 3 i think), but it still does the job |

Rep Power: 0 | I was using WinZip, but now I use WinRar.
WinRar is better than WinZip because my WinZip version didnt acept .rar files. Also splitting files using WinRar is much easier than using WinZip. |

Rep Power: 3 | Definitely use .rar, much more compression that .zip. Plus, almost everyone knows what it is, so if you're sharing the files they'll know what to do with them. |

Rep Power: 3 | Well, last time I used WinZip, I thought it was cool because I like the interface. But when I noticed that WinRar's ability to compress files better than WinZip, I was AMAZED.
Now I'm using WinRar. The interface might not look nice but it's a good compression software in terms of "COMPRESSION".
I also heard another compression software, something like "uharc" or something. I don't really remember. The compressions rates are 5 times better than WinRar. |

Rep Power: 3 | WinRAR and 7zip are some good programs for compression. I still use .zip, though. I should start using WinRAR since it's right there on my desktop. |

Rep Power: 3 | I use WinRAR and 7zip when I need better compression than WinZip's. Although I find WinZip's interface to be the best of them. |

Rep Power: 0 | Winzip is the most common compression method, and most users know how to decompress zip files. |
