Graphical IMs

Seems this is the next big thing, maybe - graphical IMs. There's IMVU and even AIM is working their way towards it. What do you guys think? Seems pretty Sim-like to me. Cute, but I wouldn't use it.

Send a message via AIM to n3rdych1ck Send a message via MSN to n3rdych1ck Send a message via Yahoo to n3rdych1ck
more graphics? not good for those with dial up. it'd be nice if you had DSL,broadband, or cable hook-up tho not sure if i'd use it. seems a bit extreme and unecessary.

Yeah, I don't think I'd use it, too. MSN or was it Yahoo, or maybe both, they seem to have been more and more heavy and graphically intense. I wouldn't use it. If the messengers did become bloated, I'd download a small client like Trillian.

I don't need it. I use yahoo and the graphics are indeed intense but I can do without it. AIM works just as good, if not better.

I have not seen a graphical IM.
What is it, and what does it look like?

That messenger does look like its geared more towards kids. It sort of looks like MMO games like There or Second Life where you can choose what your character looks like and design it to your features.

Looks that way!
I cant imagine adults wanting to use it.. I know I would not want to use something like that, hehe

I'll stick with plain old MSN..

I must be one of those kids at heart then. I think it looks like a lot of fun to play with. Of course I'm also addicted to The Sims so maybe that has a little something to do with it.

yeah in my opinion it's a mmo where people don't kill stuff but just live together. It doesn't seemt hat bad and if i am bored i might use it. Especially if everyone i know uses it.

I wouldn't call those "games" actually, since there really isn't an objective (just a community of people). It is more like a virtual chat room.

I'm not into those graphical chat programs, I think they are aimed at a much younger crowd.

I like my chat programs simple also, it doesn't need tons of smileys and such.
