How to change keyboard language?

I need some help with changing the keyboard language.

I know it can be done through the Control Panel, but I don't want to mess it up unless I know exactly what am doing.

Do I need to install any extra fonts to support that language?

What if it is a language which doesn't use the English alphabet, like Chinese?

I think you need to download an update/patch from Windows update that supports the language you want to use?

Jerry Honeycutt wrote a pretty good overview of this at Windows XP in Your Language.

I had an Austrian keyboard for awhile and I switched it to English. I discovered that is was easier to use in Austrian mode -- at least the keycaps matched!

I always wondered of what use is a Webdings font? We can see all kinds of symbols like a helicopter to a bus. Is there any special meaning for that?

I've wondered the same thing!

I believe it really is just a symbol font, rather than words.

But maybe it is some strange language we have not heard of?

There are alot of good 3rd party programs that you can get for free that will do this for you. Check out download .com and you can find one for almost any language.

I thought the software that comes with the keyboard on CD would do this?
Most good keyboards come with software, I know MS and Logitech do anyway.
