This is very annoying.

Historically, IBM manuals have been excellent. You could find pretty much anything in the Hardware Maintenance Manual or the Service and Troubleshooting Guide.

Unfortunately, this is not the case in this example. The information you need may be in the Access Help Application.

Nice.

To download the Access Help Application, you will need to enter your Machine Type and Model.

The Machine Type is a 4 character value. The model is a 3 character value. Both will be printed on the bottom of the ThinkPad.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to guarantee that the information you are seeking will be in the Access Help Application.

I have owned many ThinkPads over the years. I am typing this message on a Dell Latitude D800. I have purchased my last ThinkPad.

I found this via Google:

How to Disable the Fingerprint Reader on a ThinkPad
In Windows, in the settings section of the Fingerprint Control Center, uncheck Replace windows logon with fingerprint protected logon. In the Fingerprint section uncheck the Power-On Security section if the user has fingerprints enrolled there. You do not need to uninstall the software unless you wish to.

Where is the Fingerprint Software in Microsoft Windows?
Click Start, select All Programs, select Access IBM, select Fingerprint Software, then click Control Center.
