How long it long enough?

I'm talking about passwords! How long and or complicated do you make your passwords??? Do you use just letters? Just numbers? A combo? Do you use upper and lower case letters??

I always relate it to how much pain I will be in if someone guesses my password.

The best passwords that are still somewhat easy to remember are two words seperated by a special character.

Just remember that if you change (buy a new one) hard drives then all the passwords you ever used can still be obtained by the less scrupulous of society if they get their hands on the hard drive!

This is one of the reasons to always follow the advice in the FAQ How do I securely erase data? before selling a used hard drive.

I always thought I would smash it into a million pieces remembering some of the times when it had me pulling my hair out. The hard drave that is! Then I thought about changing all my passwords to passwords I had never used before, making all the passwords that folk could retrieve from the old hard drive useless.
Call me paranoid but I just find it incredible what some people can do if they really want to and have the skill of course!
Had a quick browse down the list of articles, very interesting subjects which I shall enjoy reading no doubt.

There are some very easy ways to make stronger passwords.
Like Will said, you can add numbers there, special chars, etc., but some simple tricks can help you out.

1 - Always use at least 1 capital letter and never at the beginning of the word
2 - Always use at least 1 number or other special character
3 - Try not to use "dictionary" words, not even backwords

DON'T use the same password everywhere.<--- Read again <--- an again
