How to stop AIM from starting up?

Anybody know how to stop AIM from starting up each time I start up my computer. It is not in the startup menu BTW.

In the AIM client, select the <Edit> menu and then select <Preferences>.

Select "Instant Messenger" in the left pane.

In the right pane, you will see a checkbox labeled "Launch automatically at system start".

Uncheck that box.

I do have it disabled in the preferences, but perhaps I need to disable aolsoftware.exe from starting up also.

uhh don't you just have to go to the aim login window and uncheck the auto-login box?

i want AIM IM to start up BUT

i don't want the AIM webpage to start up

can i get my buddy IM features but block that AIM webpage from starting up?

i am tired of closing it out every time i go on IM?

I had to install the AIM client to see what you were talking about. I use the Trillian client for AIM.

My God -- that is the most annoying "feature" ever.

To get rid of it:

Start AIM
Click the <My AIM> menu
Highlight the <Edit Options> menu item
Click <Edit Preferences>
Click to select the "Sign On/Off" category
Uncheck "Show AIM Today window at sign on"
Click the <OK> button
