Make Keyboard Media Keys Work Winamp

I've heard of "Winamp" a dozen times but I've never used it until recently. Winamp is a media player by Nullsoft. The cool thing about is it's skinnable and free! Check it out and let us know what you think!

This tutorial will show you have to add your current keyboard media keys (like shortcut keys) to Winamp.

If you’ve been wondering how to enable media keys on the keyboard to work in Winamp, it’s actually quite easy to do that. With most installations this should already be one of the default settings. In some cases, it may not be so. If your case is the latter, you can enable this feature by doing the following:right align image
  • Open up the Winamp Preferences.

  • Scroll down to General Preferences and browse Global Hotkey.

  • Check whether the Enabled hotkey is already active. If in case it’s not, select that feature.
If you need to change the settings manually instead, do the following:
  • Select Action in the list.

  • Click inside the Hotkey textbox.

  • Press the media key on the keyboard which represents the specific function you’re trying to do.

Example, if you want to select Playback: Play/Pause action from the list, you must press the Play button on the keyboard, which shows as Play/Pause in the hotkey box.

Remember to click the Set button whenever changes are made.
