Problem With BearShare Pro 5.2.5

I am using BearShare Pro 5.2.5 . I am facing a problem with this. I can't play the wmv and avi files downloaded from it. This is also true for BearFlix too. Whenever I open them , There comes a message of license aquisation. But the license it brings is really very confusing. That is from "seek-mo" [Which I have come to known as a spyware after make some googling]. That license told to press the button play [and obviously to agree with their TOS]. When I press "play" they intend to download an .exe file. And I am sure either its a trojan or virus.

So , I have now loads of mpg and avi files but can't open them. Even I tried with may codec package players, But It didnt.

Please help me out. How can I play these files safely, without doing any harm to my machine.

Thanx in Advance

I believe those are malware files and should be deleted.

People put those on the BearShare network to trick other people into installing software on their machine. That software normally harasses you to buy pornography.

Will's right, those are malware files. I use BearShare and I made the mistake of downloading a file like this before I even knew about .exe files. The one I happened to download wiped a lot of necessary files. I can usually fix this sort of thing myself, but it was so bad I had to take it to a professional.

If you haven't yet, when you load BearShare go to:

Setup then Filters.

It should give you a list of all the files that you want hidden and don't want to download. If you don't have exe there, you could be unwillingly downloading them. Another useful feature under setup is advanced. Make sure that you're using the highest security level possible, which I think is 'activate secure channels'.

If you're still having problems, I would contact BearShare. Hope this helped. Good luck!

hmm...actually this problem is a bit different as you think. Bearshare itself is not downloading any .exe files. It downloads some .avi or .wmv. When I attempt to play them media players like , Windows Media Player , or K Lite Classic media playder , shows a screen , that tells , I need a license to play this file as this file is copyright protected. When I press download license , it tend to download a .exe file, which is malware. I have always made my security level maximum with custom level setup for firewall.

by the way , still thanx for your effort.
