Rep Power: 0 | Tor / Privoxy Issue I installed Vidalia which includes Privoxy, and Tor, I can surf fine however if I enable Tor then I cannot surf, I get the message
This is Privoxy 3.0.3 on bedroompc (127.0.0.1), port 8118, disabled
if I turn Privoxy off or tor off, I can surf fine. I had it all working fine in Ubuntu, but now a new wrinkle trying to get windows 2000 to work, ARGH> |

What does your Privoxy config.txt look like? |

It turned out that my system time was off, and apperently the TOR network will not work if the system time is off, thereby causing the port to appear to be disabled.
Fortunatly I found that info somewhere, and then checked by system time, wow I never thought system time would be important. Anyhow My config file is set exactly as it comes in the Vidalia package, I figured it was best not to mess with that, until I had time to read the whole thing.
Thanks

Rep Power: 0 | I'm having this same problem, however my time is correct. Also vidalia is refusing to start at all. I enable tor then firefox does not work, I change settings in firefox to direct connection, then Tor does not work |

Rep Power: 0 | Tor 0.1.1.24 and Privoxy 3.0.3 and vidalia 0.0.8 from http://www.vidalia-project.net/download.php. and firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
I had all this working last night only thing I changed was reinstalling windows keeping all my settings and programs in tact, if that helps, not sure what it did to make the the above programs not work |

Rep Power: 6 | I have to run off to a meeting, but my first hunch is that the issue is with the brand new Firefox 2.
Install Firefox 1.x and my guess is that everything will be working fine again. |

Rep Power: 0 | It was working perfect with firefox 2, same thing with firefox 1, didn't change anything. I try to start vidalia, and I get a message saying "vidalia.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" |

Rep Power: 6 | Since you re-installed Windows, did you also reinstall all of these applications? (I'm worrying about registry keys)
Did you save your vidalia.conf file from the install that did work?
Can you run `vidalia -reset` from a command prompt and test again? (Save your vidalia.conf before running this command!)
Can you delete the geoip-cache file and try again?
Why did you reinstall Windows? |

The geoip-cache file, if it exists, will be in the same directory as your vidalia.conf file. On my system, that is in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Vidalia.
In that same directory, you might also try deleting your vidalia.pid file and restarting Vidalia. |

Rep Power: 0 | Reinstalled windows, because had some driver issues that I could not work out with switching sound cards. Anyways, I deleted the two files and vidalia runs nicely as well as TOR working in firefox. Thank you for the help. |
