Your favorite browser?

Hi everyone, it's just another poll! Select which browser you're using or the one you like the most!

I have Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I used IE as my main web browser. Well, you know what? Website designer design their websites mainly for IE, and that's why I use IE. Anyway, I also know that Firefox disabled the usage of ActiveX and is more secure too. FYI, IE dominates 85% of web users and Firefox only around 10%. Still, you have to remember that Firefox won a lot of awards.

I'm currently using Internet Explorer. I don't really know what all the fuss is about with all the different browsers. I decided to use firefox for a while to see what all the hype was about and to be honest I noticed absolutely no difference from when I was using Internet Explorer.

If you use a different browser why is this?

Tabbed browsing, no pop-ups, loads of custom themes/skins you can apply, gmail snap-in notifier and bookmarks on your toolbar, among other things.

Re tabbed browsing, you can open multiple pages at once withing the same app window, so if you don't want to forget about a link, open it in a new tab and read it in a bit. It also means you can open five links, and they'll load in the background while you're reading something else. Speaking from the point of view of a prolific forum poster, I will surf with nothing else.

The ONLY exception to this is that MS has restricted windows updates, so you still need it in order to download windows updates. And the occasional site does not render correctly in FF.

I use IE almost exclusively.. I wasn't all that impressed with FF and hated netscape. I did use NeoPlanet for awhile but it's no longer available..

Hmm... "bookmarks on your toolbar," okay, I can see the advantage of this feature. It would make getting to sites I visit daily a skoshe faster. How many bookmarks can you put up there??

"Tabbed browsing," this could save my favorites list from getting as long as it does. LOL I have a feeling I'm not alone in habit of saying "oh, I'll read that later" and then adding it to favies. Do I read it "later?" Yeah... so much later I forget why I saved it in the first place! LOL :p I've been meaning to get more read it now with all my browsing.

Is it possible to toggle between FF and IE on the same computer?? And if I try FF is it going to erase all my favies?!

Thanks!

Lyte

Honesly, Lyte, I think that the maximum tabs I've ever opened at once is about 9 or so. I didnt' hit a limit. I tend to go to the "new posts" page in a forum, and open up all the ones I want to read in sep tabs, then knock them off one by one. Less flipping back and forth.

As for co-existance, FF is a separate install. MS will not deliver windows updates via FF, so you have to retain both. It's also good if you happen to come across a site that doesn't render in FF properly.

FF won't touch your IE favourites, although you can import them into FF if you want to.

I use Internet Explorer and nothing else. I started using Firefox but it seemed to continually crash my computer for no reason, so I uninstalled it and everything was fine.

Firefox Opera and Safari are all good. I like FF the best. IE is asseptable to too many viruses and Linux uses FF so I am prone to that.

The reasons I use firefox and not other browsers:

1: Havn't had a pop-up since I installed ff and that was over 2 years ago!
2: I can make ff look the way I want it to using themes.
3: IE is targeted by hackers and virus makers because they know most people use it.
4: The extensions, oh the lovely extensions :p
5: Opera is known to display pages wrong, its even known to display the exact same page differently after refreshing.
6: The reason ff doesn't display pages properly that were coded for IE is because ff is a w3c compliant browser. IE is in the wrong.

Could think of more but can't be bothered at the moment :p might add to it later.

I had the same problem. I loaded FF and immediately started having problems. I couldn't get even get to sites to find out what the problem might be!

If I could get it to work I might try FF to keep the hackers off but it's only a matter of time before they get bored with IE and come after FF. IMO

Thumbs up Mozilla Firefox!

I am fan of FireFox not only because it is free but also because it is much stable then IE. Also
there is so much spam and ads that are targeted at IE that you can beraly escape from it.
Opera are also performing well in the new versions!

I have both Firefox and IE, but I mainly use Firefox now. I started trying it because I heard it was more secure than IE. Well, I haven't really noticed a difference in the spyware, but I like how user friendly Firefox is. When you read the error messages, they seem like they were designed for human beings.

My favorite parts are the tabbed browsing and the extensions. I don't like the downloading system, though...there's some bug where there are some incomplete files that are just...sitting there on my computer, and won't go away. For downloading, I use a manager, or IE.

Mozilla firefix is my choice. Been using it for 2 years I think already and I cannot imagine browsing the web with another anymore. Tried Opera too, but I hated it. So, Mozilla Firefox is the one for me

It's not on the list, but another great browser choice is SlimBrowser.

SlimBrowser uses the IE rendering engine, so it doesn't have the compatability issues that Firefox and Opera have. It works on every web site that IE works on.

But... SlimBrowser also has tabbed browsing and it is much smaller and faster than IE.
