Do you have a firewall within the router??

Can you ping the other computer??

Sorry but I'm bit of a newbie to this sort of thing. I seem to remember reading something about a firewall on the router. Also I'm not quite sure what you mean by can you ping the other computer.

Well, if there's a firewall in the router you may have to turn it off.

Here's a link to MSN that tells you all about pinging. Basically, pinging (as I think of it) is like radar to detect the other computer. You'll send a "ping" to the other computer from yours and if everything's set up correctly you'll get a response.

Here's another link that's called "How to troubleshoot network connectivity problems"

I hope this helps.

ping is a way to detect a connection. If using the command line(in UNIX systems at least) you can ping any website or computer on your network. ping yahoo.com from your command line to see how that works(type: ping yahoo.com) Then try to ping your other computer.

Hope this helps !!

Never used ping-plotter but it looks like a good program. I try to stay away from the GUI as much as possible when dealing with these things. Everything "can" be done from the command line, why clutter your PC with one time programs. They work good for those with those just wanting a one-time fix though

Yes this problem can be solved. I know a few sites you can google this problem. There is many rescorses to this. Also some routers may not allow lan only wan. Go to whatsmyip.net and try to acess it there. Through your wan ip. Are you trying to start a home server?

Thanks,
Camron
