network

i dont get it.. Does it depend on the ISP?, Moderm, internet connection? i mean my lan/internet is soo slow. Before i had dsl and my internet was fast very fast. But when my brother change to cable it got soo slow.. Verion hosted my dsl, and brighthouse hosted my cable...

Internet speed is a combination of everything you mentioned, however cable vs. DSL can make a big difference. Cable is a shared connection. Meaning, you are sharing the service not only with everyone watching TV but also everyone using the internet. DSL on the other hand... I believe... runs on it's own, seperate from everyone else.

So, when your brother changed from DSL to cable, that changed the way in which you accessed the internet in more ways than one!

oh so.... dsl is faster than cable right? since cable is sahred..

Yes... generally speaking... of course, there could be additional issues related to your hardware or software. But when speaking about connection DSL is not shared so it's typically faster.

ISP means Internet Service Provider. That refers to the company that is connecting you to the internet. It means the company, not the service provided... e.g. dial-up, cable, FiOS and so on.
