For those who may not know... "LAN =
local area network is a local (e.g. in an office or home) computer network for communication between computers... "
One advantage is the ability to share documents, software, utilities, etc... So, for example... if there's a copy of Quicken sitting on a computer upstairs or in another office you'll be able to access that software if the two computers are connected via a LAN.
I think the sharing of resources (software & documents) and the ease of connecting more than one computer to the internet are the two major benefits of LANs.
