Hey Joe,

For those who may not know... "LAN = local area network is a local (e.g. in an office or home) computer network for communication between computers... "

One advantage is the ability to share documents, software, utilities, etc... So, for example... if there's a copy of Quicken sitting on a computer upstairs or in another office you'll be able to access that software if the two computers are connected via a LAN.

I think the sharing of resources (software & documents) and the ease of connecting more than one computer to the internet are the two major benefits of LANs.

As my computer is over the LAN, there are many benefits.

I can access shared videos across the network, and backup files as well.

The best advantage is sharing one printer.

One advantage from me
We can transfer files to each other at maximum speed like 100mbps
100 MBPS can't possible to transfer in any system, without LAN

Send a message via AIM to firestorm Send a message via MSN to firestorm
Now with a gigbit LAN you can transfer at 1000mb/s

There are many advantages to a LAN. The more users on your the lan the more advantages. You can share services like printing (one printer several users), files, software (with software such as Citrix), local IMs like communicator, CVS services and tons more.

The main advantage of my home LAN is the internet though.
