802.11n

The 802.11n wireless standard has not yet been ratified, but products are already available which implement the draft standard.

Atheros, Broadcom, and Marvell are shipping 802.11n chipsets, which enable wireless device manufacturers to build devices around the emerging specification.

Here's a listing of 802.11n devices by chipset:

Atheros Communications' XSpan
Belkin N1 Wireless Router (F5D8231-4)
Belkin N1 Notebook Card (F5D8011)
D-Link (coming soon...)

Broadcom's Intensi-fi
Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router (WRT300N)
Linksys Notebook Adapter (WPC300N)
Buffalo Technology Nfiniti Wireless-N Router and Access Point (WZR-G300N)
Buffalo Technology Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G300N)
Dell Wireless 1500 (coming soon...)

Marvell TopDog
Netgear RangeMax Next Wireless Router—Gigabit Edition (WNR854T)
Netgear RangeMax Next Wireless Notebook Adapter—Gigabit Edition (WN511T)

The final 802.11n standard is not expected until next year. No vendors are promising compatability between these early adoption devices and the final ratified 802.11n standard.

If you are going to buy an 802.11n wireless device right now, it is best to consider the device for it's 802.11a/b/g compatability and to think of future 802.11n compatability as icing on the cake.
