Are you sure that it's Microsoft Windows which is not responding?
Often, a single application can spin out of control, causing all of Windows to appear unresponsive. This is a
result of poor Operating System design, but your fix may be application-specific.
Next time this happens, hit <CONTROL-ALT-DELETE> to bring up Windows Task Manager, and check the following things:
1. In the Applications tab, look for any processes with a status other than "Running."
2. In the Processes tab, sort the processes by CPU and see which processes are using the most CPU time.
3. Again in the Processes tab, sort the processes by Mem Usage and see which processes are using the most RAM.
4. In the Performance tab, check the CPU Usage.
5. Again in the Performance tab, check the Page File Usage and the amount of Physical Memory Available.
Then, tell us what you see.
