Hi
I'm a newbie to this forum and am not brilliant with networks etc so please help if you can.
Here is my problem. I have an acer laptop with integrated wireless and use it at 2 places, the first uses a BT router and the second a netgear d834g. All has been working fine until yesterday.
The computer is saying that it is connected to the wireless network with excellent strength etc, but i cannot connect to any web pages - nothing happens. So i tried to repair the network but got an error message telling me it had a problem clearing the ARP cache.
I came onto these forums yesterday and managed to clear the arp cache by following the instructions by Mr Spencer. when i type arp -a (or whatever the command was) the computer tells me that the arp cache is empty. However, i still cannot connect to the internet. If i type in an address normally it just comes up this page cannot be displayed, if i start it with http:// i get a message saying internet explorer could not open the search page.
I'm completely stumped, it's way outside my understanding. It's still telling me it can't clear the ARP cache when i try to repair the network and its the same result whatever wireless network i connect to. But if i plug the router directly into the lap top it works without a problem.
Please help, i use this computer to work from home so not only is it driving me mad, it's costing me money!
Any advice is massively appreciated!
