Problem - Windows freeze using wireless

Windows XP newly reformatted, Acer TravelMate 4102, Intel wireless 2200bg.
My laptop totally freeze when downloading from internet and also transferring file in ad hoc network. Everytime...
Ctrl+Alt+Del is not functioning. No choice but reset.
The log display this : (Warning) TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.
(Error) The IP address lease 192.168.1.3 for the Network Card with network address 0012F09B0D68 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).
I have even try before using windows vista, update to recent drivers, but still the same problem occur...
Wonder...
I really have no idea for this...
Anyone could help ?
It is my network adapter problem ? Or is it heat problem ?
But the problem occur even when i start up my system and start downloading (start windows not more than 15 minutes).
That means it was still not over heated. Help needed....

Welcome to PC101......Kenshin,

Does your laptop have a "built-in wireless network card in it ? Do this first
Start--->Control Panel---->Network & Internet Connection. There is a "repair connection" is this program.....try this. I would also check your "system" program (Start--->Control Panel---->Preformance & Maintance--->Toward the bottom. look for "System". Check in there for any "yellow" signs on the left had side.

Let us know what you find.

I m currently running windows xp pro.
I m sorry to said that i dont understand the "yellow" sign dr911 mentioned.
I have tried repair the connection but it is still the same.
I find out that my laptop will freeze if my wireless card work frequently.
For example downloading a large file and surfing youtube.
It will not happen if i only use the wireless just for checking email.
Any idea ?

This issue may have something to do with your SP2 patch. There's a tool here which you can use to change the default connection limit in Windows Xp SP2. But use at your own risk! I can't say for certain this is the issue.

Sounds like drivers. Check all network drivers and update to the latest. Even re-installing your hardware if neccesary.

I have you tried rack's suggestion? Check the website of the manufacture of your network card for updated driver and/or try uninstalling the card and reinstalling it. I hope one of these will do the trick.

This is either a router or driver problem, or possibly both, from what I have read in your posts. I highly doubt buying another card will solve your problem. You may also need a firmware upgrade. Have you checked for that?

Have you tried connecting to another wireless network? The process of elimination is the best way of solving issues. If it's not your router, then move on to the next possibility.

I had a network card glitch with my laptop some time ago, that required a reformat to fix the problem. I also thought I needed a new network card, but formatting did the trick. I am not saying you should reformat.

Perhaps someone else has had a similar problem with this wireless card. Have you tried googling the card specs to see if anyone else has had this same problem?

If all else fails, then yes, perhaps your card is corrupted. Another thing you can try is to borrow or buy and return another card to swap out....process of elimination!!

Good Luck!

I have tried to reformat. It doesn't help. Googling doesn't find me the solution. I have tried connect to several APs and ad hoc networks, still the same. But i tried to use a usb wireless before. Then it works fine. No idea...

Check out the link. I cannot promise anything, but have a look for your card.

My apologies. I may have directed you to a linux upgrade for the same card. I simply googled the firmware upgrade. I thought you might do the homework. No harm done!!

Take a look at this link: INTEL Driver Download

Let me know if this is of any help. I would consider Intel's online help, as I am sure they will be able to troubleshoot this problem much easier and faster than I can from here.

I would definitely check Intel's support via email then. That would bother me until I got it fixed, but that's me. Good Luck and Season's Greetings!
