Experimenting

I used to experiment with computers a lot when I was a kid. I would fool around w\IP's, cmd prompt, etc. In 9th grade I chaged the autorun settings on a game (by mistake) and somehow cancelled its trial period [must've been really poorly programmed to have some kid disable the trial period like that]. I'm 18 and I still find myself experimenting, lol.

The way to develop good judgement is through experience. The way to develop experience is by making mistakes. :p

You can learn a lot just by playing around -- if you set goals and stick to them. For example, a goal is "make this game work" -- and then you learn everything necessary to make that game work.
