Gulf Coast Disasters

This is a topic that I do know alot about and know it has been discussed by many a water cooler.

Not much on news about it now but really very little has changed. I spent 15 days in the gulf, between San Antonio, TX & New Orleans as 'Rebel'Red Cross/Animal Rescuer/Electrician/Concerned Citizen. I had many experiences & met many great people. Saw many useless people/organizations too.

Anyway, the ripple effect from Katrina alone will be greater then 9/11 and will/has altered teh whole world forever.

What do you think?

You're right, but I think each will have an impact in very different ways. I imagine it will be a decade at least before New Orleans is back to normal... whatever "normal" turns out to be!

I'm here in TX and I kept putting off going to NO and now it's not there anymore! Sigh.

Yep, I have only been to NO once to and that was about 6 weeks ago. I didn't exactly have the typical tourist experience there. My br0-in-law was showing me photos of his New Orleans trip, taken 2 yrs ago and I told him that's not what I saw. He had very scenic, attractive, lush foliage & flowers photos. Attractive buidlings too.

SOmeday tho............

Hey Live,

So... what do you think NO is going to look like in the next year... three years... and by that I mean in the way of population. From everything I hear a lot of people aren't moving back! This a pity cuz people are what give a city its unique "flavor." They could rebuild everything everything exactly how it was but if the people aren't there... it's just not the same.
