Lego Kits

I have a need for Lego Building kits with wheels, gears and stuff. But each website has a different price for a kit, and I am not able to identify how much each of those cost exactly.I have a simple robotic project in my mind.

Froogle!! what is that?? I shall check it out anyway.

I have another question.
Would there be something called "IR Repeaters" ?
((IR tranceiver control distance is less, so how do i control devices at more than operatable distance??))

Hey!! The Lego MindStorm Kits are all very expensive and I cannot afford that much for a project. I thought the other sites are bluffing
Are there any low-cost alternatives?

Mega Bloks makes low-cost alternatives to regular Lego's.

For Lego Mindstorms -- I do not believe that less expensive alternatives exist.

I believe Froogle is the e-commerce search engine from Google.
Is that correct?

Why do I always read these things too late? I just spend $30 more on a Christmas present this morning than I could've gotten it for. I can't believe I never heard of Froogle.

Is Froogle only valid for US users or does it cover the whole world?

You could try looking up the Lego website, I'm sure they'd have the pricing of their products there
