Complete Suite Or Program Collection

Which one do you prefer A Complete suite of protection (like Norton Internet Security or Zonealarm Security suite)

OR

A combination of programs (like using Kaspersky Antivirus with McAfee firewall)

For me I prefer a complete suite to avoid conflicts

Howdy!

I would agree that a suite of security measures would be best to avoid conflicts between processes... spyware, adware, virus protection. This is assuming one has the cash for something like Norton or McAfee. If not, I'd still be willing to throw together whatever is out there for free and hope for the best!

I have used Norton Internet Security for almost 2 years now and since i paid for a 2 year subscription last time around, I will be using it for 594 more days.

I like all the features Norton provides. However, a complete security solution has it's pros and cons. Many people hate Norton and all Symantec products because they try to be everything to everyone, and in the mean time take over every aspect of your system. Some people say that any product that tries to provide protection for so many things will fall short in some area. I believe this can be true for many programs, but i have been happy with Norton Internet Security.

Having said that, i do believe that it is entirely possible to have just as secure a system by using various programs that provide their own separate features. It all depends on how the user configures his system, and how he uses it. Practice good local security policies, don't click on every banner you see that promises a free iPod, and don't download attachments from the prince of some middle eastern country saying someone left 6.7 million dollars to you. lol. If you use common sense, have a good AV and spyware tools then most of the time you should be ok without paying the 50 bucks to Norton.

But it doesnt hurt to be safe...

That's okay... I had to double check my spelling. LOL

Thanks for going into detail. It reminded me to add ZoneAlarm to my system.

I go with a combo of programs.
Im not at all into the all-in-one packages because often one or two programs will let the others down.

Ie - Norton make good AV software but their anti spyware isn't as good as other providers.

i just dont pay attention

there is nothing on my computer tht i care that much about. i do more or less hardware overclocking, so as many compents as i burn and every thing else i have learned not to keep important thing on my computer. i will tel you that i run 3 fire walls though and they are not fancy. i run my linksis firewall, the junky windows fire wall, and my motherboards built in fire wall and to be honest with you i really dont have any problems to speek of. ok yes i have a gig of memory overclocked to cun faster, but damnit i am just not going to sacricfice the 32 megs it takes to run nortan or mcafe. ny ways im just careful in what i download. second off i end up having to reformat every so often any ways because im screwing around in the regestry trying to play with what i can. you know because the regestry is so friendly and all. so mabe if i do get something i dont notice it any ways since i will screw up the regestry again in a month or 2 and have to reformat since i just never seem to back it up.
