MyWay's Online Help says:
Quote:
f you wish to remove this Search Assistant feature:

1. From your computer's Start button, select "Settings," then select "Control Panel."
2. Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
3. Select "Search Assistant - My Search."
4. Click "Change/Remove."

This feature will then be uninstalled.

Some users report that the My Way Search Assistant is hidden from the Add/Remove Prgrams menu on their machines.

Is it hidden on your machine?

Wow -- so it has an entry in the Add/Remove programs box, but no remove link. That's just bloody irresponsible of the vendor.

The next things I would try would be:

1. Spybot Search and Destroy
2. AdAware

Kirk Lawrence from Ask Jeeves here. We make the MyWay Search Assistant, which provides users with a choice between various search engines to use as their default search provider. From what I understand, it sounds like you have successfully uninstalled the product, but still have the entry listed in your Add/Remove Programs control panel. This means that the product IS uninstalled; it just left behind an entry in your Add/Remove Programs control panel that cannot be deleted. I would be happy to help you and send you a simple utility to remove this from your program listing. You can reach me at klawrence at askjeeves dot com.

I apologize for the inconvenience and I look forward to hearing from you.

Our customer service dept. found this topic, but I don't know how. They alerted me to this and I posted. Simple as that.

I sent Siva (and one other person) the uninstall utilities but I haven't heard back yet. Hopefully we've solved their problem.

Hi Will,

I browsed the web for removing "myway search assistence" I have followed the instructions and could successfully removed it from the registry key, when I checked in the add/remove programs there was not any entry for the "my way search assistence" , here I am giving the procedure to remove that, hoping that some one would be benifited with this.

the procedure is as follows.

see the below link for the discussion:

My Way Search Assistant Uninstall Bug

Description of Bug
After uninstalling version 1,0,1,10 of the My Way Search Assistant using the Add / Remove Programs control panel, My Way Search Assistant is sometimes still listed in the control panel and without a “Remove” button. To see the problem, version 1,0,1,10 of the My Way Search Assistant must have been previously installed using the MSI version of its installer and not the EXE version of its installer.

After the uninstall, the files and registry settings created by the My Way Search Assistant have been completely removed from the user’s computer (except locked files which will be removed on the next Windows Startup). However, two MSI registry settings may remain, and if they do, the My Way Search Assistant is listed in the Add / Remove Programs control panel without a “Remove” button.

What is the extent of the problem?
The My Way Search Assistant continues to be displayed in the Add / Remove Programs control panel (without a “Remove” button) after uninstalling the My Way Search Assistant.

In this instance, the My Way Search Assistant has been otherwise successfully uninstalled. Its files and registry settings have been removed from the user’s computer (except locked files which will be removed on the next Windows Startup).

How can the problem be fixed manually?

Note: This should only be attempted by those who know what they're doing. If in doubt, dont try this. And even if you do know, back up your registry file first.

The problem is fixed by deleting the following two registry keys creat

ed by MSI describing the My Way Search Assistant:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT,"Installer\Products\7D449D87B79A 4004BAA05BDA60389904"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,"Software\Classes\Installer\Pro ducts\7D449D87B79A4004BAA05BDA60389904"

There is an uninstaller program available for those that encounter this bug but do not wish to edit their registry settings. Please contact MyWay at spywareconcerns at myway dot com.
