Lightbulb No virus Software

just a thought i would like to share with all of you. i custom built my computer and used a DFI LanParty Main Board. on my computer i have chosen not to run any Virus protection software. most people hear this and think that it is crazy. here is what i have and what i have found. i have a Linksis wrt54g wireless router. with the fire wall activated. the only ports i have open on it is what my xbox needs. i run my windows fire wall on windows XP sp2. and my mother board has a build in fire wall for its self. i have run my computer like this for about 4 months on a broadband connection. i download a lot of things and have yet to get any kind of virus, worm, ect.(knock on wood). i have found the if you run Norton, or McAffee that those programs just sit there and chew up about 32 megs of ram. and even though i have a gig that is overclocked. there is no reason to chew on ram if you dont have to......... well my thought is that if you run 3 fire walls mabe you dont need to run a virus program and i so far have found it more effictie that running a virus protection program

I've never heard of a set up like this. I have and it's McAfee always popping up with some warning. It's real annoying.

Are you sure you don't have any bugs floating around? Sometimes they can sit there dormant for a few years and all of a sudden BAM! I know I said this a few times in other threads, but try downloading AVAST! home addition. It's free! Run a scan and see what comes up.

I found virus from 1993 that norton or my current virus protection that came with my dsl service didn't find and I also downloaded it at work and got rid of one that attacked my IE that the IT guy couldn't or norton couldn't get rid of.

Keep us posted!
