Norton vs. McAfee - Which do you prefer??

Let's hear it... which is better?!

I've had both and frankly I can't tell the difference. I have McAfee right and I find the constant pop ups annoying. I think someone else mentioned that too. Anyone know how to turn them off???

I'm a fan of Norton. That's what I've always had and grown up with, but I don't put McAffee down or anything.

Yeah, I don't have a preference either. I grew up on Norton but this new Dell I'm on came with McAfee. It does seem to be more "vocal" than Norton. I don't recall Norton giving me so many alerts.

Hmm... hopefully we'll hear from others. Keeping viruses out is a full time project!

I have used both on different computers and I prefer Norton over McAfee. Though Norton does want a lot of computer resources, it has been very successful with blocking AV on my computers. On the other hand, McAfee failed twice by letting in a virus and I don't plan on giving it another chance.

Only through my own experience do I prefer Norton over McAfee. There are some other great AV programs out there, including AVG. That's my second choice.

SPAM Afee sucks :mad: Worse than all the popups is how much it sucks from your memory and CPU. It can slow down your computer alot!

I don't like either one! I just download AVAST! and I posted in a thread that its free for home version, and it found a trojan in my computer from 1993! I also loaded it on my work pc and it found a virus that attacked my IE and norton couldn't get rid of it!

I used to use Norton before but my PC has some issues with it. I then switched to McAfee and so far I haven't had any virus problems ever since I switched!

i like only avg antivirus

Both McAfee and Norton take up to much resources on you system.....and try delete them.......i mean totally delete them !!

I think McAfee is better than Norton because it has a good User Interphase

Many-a-times, I have read in Newspapers "Companies like McAfee have provided protection to thier clients 2 months age"

But I have never foung Norton's name.

I have nortons on my comps that run windows. It works ok, just takes too much of my cpu up. Logging into XP can take up to 20-30 secs in the morning because Nortons is checking the same programs that have been there for forever. I think I am going to switch when this subscription runs out.

I used to prefer Norton over McAfee but I've long since dropped both of them for NOD32.

Hands down, the very best anti-virus I've ever used and it's NON-INVASIVE. I can work with NOD32 without the fears and interuptions inherant with NAV or McAfee.

Check out NOD32 at: www.pcrnr.com It rates the HIGHEST of any AV ever tested! That says alot in my book. If you like it as much as I do, you can download it right then and there. I don't know if you can pick it up anywhere else, but that's where I got my copy and I've been virus free ever since.

Not a product push or a site push... just a product that I'm in love with and I wanted to share that.

NAV would be #2 for me... and McAfee... well... use the CD as target practice.

I have always used norton because it was one of those things that my dad (my pc mentor from way back in the day) always used. Now that I don't use windows all the time, I don't really think about sercuirty on my windows system too much, I belive the version on it now is 2001? something like that, way outdated, lol.

i would prefer norton antivirus cause i use it and it's really cool. it works for me and it should work for you
