Problem - [SOLVED] I have a virus in my PC

I know that I definitely have a virus in my PC. But I've been trying to open AVG Free and each time I do that, the software closes by itself. Searching for keywords such as "anti-virus" and "malware removal" also forces a browser closure. Even trying to download HijackThis will also cause the browser to shut down (I tried this in both FF and IE). Any suggestions on what I should do in order to remove this?

How many anti-virus programs do you have installed?

Try booting into safe mode and running your AV from there.

If you are able to get online without your browser crashing, try doing an online virus scan.

Howdy!

First, ya gotta move HJT from your desktop (temp folder) to it's own folder, as in C:/program files/hjt

Having it here...

C:\Documents and Settings\Windows\Desktop\HiJackThis_v2.exe

prevents it from seeing everything.

You should download SUPERantivirus and do a check for the viruses. If they are there, then list them in a post

This thread is old now. The problem has more than likely been already solved. Are you working for this antivirus company or are you just fanboying?

Fanboy:

-Geek Term related to forum users who think a product/company/person can do no wrong.

-A person who is completely loyal to a game or company regardless of if they suck or not.

-someone who likes one thing and thinks all competition of that one thing is crap.

Guess what? ur wrong. thats right. WTH is fanboying? Are you wierd? The program i said is a tool you use to IDENTIFY the type of virus. THEN you can go about fixing it.

Restart your computer and running on Safe Mode. Trying scan using your AVG and try forcing deleting the virus detected.

hey chuckie...usually when a thread says solved, it's already resolved. I think if I had a virus on my computer since 05-11-2007, I would have done something by now. Try coffee, it keeps me awake.
