Problem - [SOLVED] New Folder.exe

I got a new folder.exe recently in my pendrive. I cant format my pendrive. The new folder once deleted will pop up again. I think my laptop infected too. Task manager is being disabled. The only way is system restore. Do i have any other ways to solve it ? How can i get back my administrator ?

Kenshin.

What operating system are you using ( Windows 98, 2000, XP ) ?

Do you have any anti-virus software installed on your PC ?
Any spyware software ?

A little more info can be helpful to us at PC101.

It sounds like you mught have a virus on your PC. Some more info would help.

Kenshin,

Good, no virus ! Now I would down-load some spyware (1 or 2 can't hurt).
Here's the 2 that most people use:

Spybot - Search & Destroy: http://spywarebot.com/
Ad-Aware SE Personal: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/...e_personal.php

Try and run one or both of these and see what you have on both your pendrive & PC.

May I also suggest an online virus scan found here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

and

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

These have saved my butt a few times.

Housecall/Bitdefender... both good choices!

Perhaps u have not updated your antivirus software. So connect to internet & update. I would recommend u use NOD 32 antivirus. It's my fav n detects most new viruses.

Hello...did you happen to see the date on this thread? I am feeling pretty confident this person has resolved their problem in a year. LOL!

Hey Lyte,

Just a suggestion.... I would let the member who started the thread, mark their thread as solved !! If not marked in a reasonable time, give them a warning. I'm sure you have enough to do without going through all the threads. Or, maybe a "Mod" could be used since we have so many members ??

Yeah, we might be at a point where a Mod is needed.

Use HJT (HiJack This) to end the suspicious program. Plug in your pendrive. Running HiJack This, remove unnecessary file load on your computer then try format back you pendrive.

This thread started 02-27-2007 and also has been solved, but it's nice you are so eager to help. I am sure if you keep looking you will find a problem that's current.
