Spyware/Malware removal tips

I hope this post will help some remove the nasty's off your computer.

Spyware can be a frustrating affair, as most of us know.

First of all you'll need to download some software, no one anti-spyware solution will get rid of your spyware, we recommand you use 2 or 3 to help get rid of your spyware.

1. Download and install Adaware: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-...ml?tag=lst-0-1

2. Next You'll want to download and install Spybot: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Searc...ml?tag=lst-0-1

3. If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP download and install the Microsoft Anti-Spyware software: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

4. Download & install CWshreeder: http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe

Once you have installed the above software the next thing you want to do is reboot your computer into safe mode:

To boot into safe mode (All Versions of Windows)

Start up the computer and keep pushing the F8 key, you will be brought to a menu, select safe mode and let the computer boot.

Now while in safe mode (The screen will not look pretty) open up Adware and preform the scan.

Once the scan complets, remove all the selected items by right clicking on one of the enteries and select remove all entries. Once finished close out of the program.

Next open up Spybot and preform the scan, once the scan is completed make sure all entries are checked an click on remove.

Finally once completed with the above, if you've downloade the MS Anti-Spyware software, run that program and follow the onscreen prompt.

Once copleted exit the program. Finally open CW Shreeder and click fix, this check to see if your browser is hijacked.

Once finished, reboot the computer and let Windows boot normally. If the spyware issues still persist please download HiJack This and create a new thread with your log.

Follow these instructions:

*Note* Backup your registry before you begin!!!!!

Click on registry on the top menu
Select Export
give it a name and save it to a safe place on your drive. If something should happen then you can restore the keys again.

At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
sp
rundll32 <path to Trojan DLL>,DllInstall

and delete it if it exists.

Close the registry editor.
