Does Google drop a site that was indexed once?

Does Google drop a site that was indexed once? I have such site actually. I didn't really do anything wrong; in fact, I didn't make any change. The only thing I can think of this. This site only had a couple of forum signature links. It's possible that these forum signature were devalued for whatever reason, and the site got dropped from Google index as a result. That's my guess, but ... I don't have any concrete evidence or proof; it's just my guess. Does Google drop a site that was indexed once?

Actually, this might be simply a matter of Google's acting weird ... For example,

I look for http://news.allthedestinations.com/ in Google

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

Nothing shows up. I look for news.allthedestinations.com in Google.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...om&btnG=Search

Still nothing, yet if I run the command site:news.allthedestinations.com,

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...om&btnG=Search

I see that the site is indexed. How do you explain this? Have you ever seen something like this?

I've not seen anything like this. You definately run far more complex searches than I!

I try not to spend too much time on this though. If I start doing this, then I can spend days, weeks and even months. It's actually counter productive. When I check sites like DP Forum and WMW, I find that some people actually live there and check Google stats all day long. Not very productive ...

I hear ya! I can spend hours trying to research something that I'm not even sure is relevent to what I'm working on! I get so curious about stuff that I get off track!

One way to not get caught into this if you're running a forum is that you do this while you work on post exchange. You're researching, but you're also posting in your forum post exchange partners' sites. So, you aren't really wasting any time.

Yeah, but sometimes I find something interesting on a PF site and I have to find more info about it!
