Rep Power: 3 | Firefox has 8% of browser market So I read this article today about an unpatched exploit in Firefox 1.5 (article here http://news.com.com/Unpatched+Firefo...l?tag=nefd.top) but what I found most interesting is that only 8% of people are using Firefox. I mean, I know IE is super popular, but everyone I know seems to be using it. I thought it'd be way more. |

Rep Power: 3 | It is interesting.
When I started using browsers it was Netscape. This was before IE even existed. Then IE came out and it seemed to be bloated and bugged, so I stuck with Netscape. Over time Netscape added everything including the kitchen sink to the browser and it really started to suck. Internet Explorer clearly became the better browser. I used IE for years then. Now I am a die-hard Firefox fan. Although you will find me poking into IE on very rare ocassions. |

Rep Power: 3 | I've always seemed to want to use browsers other than IE. This was way back in the IE 5 timeframe. I'd use anything else with a popup blocker and tabs. I used some browser called Avant because I just needed tabs and a popup blocker and IE didn't have this feature. From there, I've been using alternate browsers. |

Rep Power: 0 | Yeah, I agree that it seems liek there would be alot more than 18% using IE. I also see what will means when he says that firefox users are very vocal. You dont usually see IE users boasting about IE. Still, its surprising that firefox only has 18% of the market. |

Rep Power: 4 | Most IE users dont know any other browser exists.
They just use what came with windows and are happy with that, which is fine.
IE will never die as it will always be bundled with windows. |

Rep Power: 3 | I though the percentage of Firefox users would be higher also. It seems many still use Internet Explorer for "compatibility" purposes (certain websites displaying properly, etc.) |

Rep Power: 3 | Yeah, the tabs feature is wonderful. It is just so convenient to have multiple sites open without having to switch windows. I think that the next version of IE will most likely "copy" this feature. |

Rep Power: 6 | Yes, the next version of IE will have tabbed browsing.
Or, you can get tabbed browsing on the IE engine now with SlimBrowser. |

Rep Power: 3 | I don't think this can be right. On all my websites the percentage is much higher. The site that gets the most traffic is 65% IE, 19% firefox, etc. |

Rep Power: 3 | Not too bad seeing that Firefox is gaining a lot of popularity these days. On one of my web sites, 28% of users are browsing with Firefox. |

Rep Power: 3 | I use Internet Explorer just because It's there and I got use to it, but truth-speaking FireFox is better. |

Rep Power: 3 | I would say the Firefox's user base is still increasing steadily and will not slow down anytime soon. |

Rep Power: 3 | Same here, it should be much larger than 8% at this moment. |
