Problem with uploading sites

Ok heres my current situation.

Iam trying to uploading files that are 200-300 MB in size to upladoign sites such as gigasize.com. The file drops off at about 50-75% and constantly too. I have done my own researched and stumbled upon here:
http://weblogs.asp.net/mhawley/archi...11/129824.aspx
Except iam totally confused, dont know what ASP.Net is no what it does. But it did offer a solution to fix this problem except i dont know how to do it (e.g. how do i change the web config, it never told me). Also stumbled upon flash 8, confused where it offers a solution to FTP uplaoding or Http uploading (which is what i want)

Another problem i face is the fact that i cant find any programs to queue my upload. I know i have to fix the uploading freezing off problem first..(if someone could find a step by step solution that would be appreciated). Having the ability to queue my uploading to gigasize would be really useful as iam not at the computer 24/7..i cant upload 2 files at the same time as they freezes and this would make uploading so much easier.

Anyone know how i could solve this problem? I use Internet Explorer (i think version 7) for uploading as Firefox seems to be having a problem with Flash or java.

Don't worry about ASP.Net. That article is discussing issues on the server side, not on the client side.

I am going to assume that a site called "gigasize.com" isn't experiencing any server-side issues with large file transfers.

I don't think you heard about Flash, I think you heard about FlashFXP. FlashFXP is a file transfer program which might just solve your issues.

Try the free demo of FlashFXP and see if it resolves your issues.

What protocol (FTP or HTTP) are you using for uploading now?

Iam using Http..i.e. through internet explorer..

FTP is 2 complicated and gigasize dont support it. And yes they dont have any server issues.

I will try out FlashFXP, thank you very much

Edit: Flashxp for Ftp uploading only? I have tried it and it doesnt work with gigasize. ALso if i use a server that supprots ftp for free..would it be better than what iam doing now?

FlashFXP supports the FTP and FXP protocols. I do not believe it supports HTTP uploading.

HTTP isn't the best protocol for transferring large files.

If you experience a network error in the middle of an FTP transfer, most FTP clients and servers will let the transfer start again where it left off.

With HTTP, you have to start all over from the beginning.

I am surprised to hear that Gigasize only supports HTTP transfers!

Well the sites doesnt say it supports FTP so it means it doesnt

Also is 200-300MB large files??

Ftp is 2 confusing..seriously..what happens if i upload via FTP and it cuts me off half way as well. Iam also having trouble port forward. This is why iam using Http..

Also how can i make my http more stable, less freezing up etc?

Edit: Also found these sites
http://www.freebsddiary.org/fileupload.php
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Program...ile_Uploading/

Is there such thing as a Http uplaoder/resumer?

The definition of "large file" really depends upon the quality of your network.

Most FTP clients and servers can resume a file transfer that is interrupted.

If you are having issues with port forwarding, you might want to look into FTP's passive mode. Or, you might want to fix you port forwarding issues.

If you want to make HTTP a better protocol, you have to write an RFC for enhancements to HTTP and submit it to the IETF.

I do not know of an HTTP uploader/resumer.

For FTP downloads, you can use an FTP client or you can use a web browser. If you use a web browser, just use "ftp://" where you would normally use "http://" in the address bar.
