Im a bad designer..

I know Im a really bad web designer.
Im not creative at all.

The thing is that I LOVE making websites, they just look bad!

I dont know whether I should try and learn more, or just outsource my design work?

Hey Jenny,

I'd shoot for learning more. One, it'll save you money and two, if you do decided to outsource your work you'll be able to give the designers better direction. You'll be able to use the terms/verbage they are familar with and that should lead to you better designs!

You could kill two birds with one stone and have some designers do the work for you AND use their work to learn. I've done this myself. I'll ask a designer to put something together and then I'll pick their code apart afterwards to see how it was done. :p

I agree with Lyte, it never hurts to learn it yourself. I started out terrible, it was really plain. The more I use a program though, the better I get. If you need any help with design I will be glad to help you(free of course ). Also, go to some template places and figure out what you like in a page and try to duplicate it in your own work. Go to namepros.com as well, some of the best designers around chill on those forums and are really friendly.

I don't think you are a bad designer really. Rather, I think you are an inexperienced web designer.
You should keep practicing and designing by yourself, the more you use the program, you will get better. Try tutorials, tips, and all help to improve your skills.
Good luck!

There's a little saying, "Practice makes perfect". If you practice and learn more, you'll do great. Lot of people started off with bland websites (not saying yours is), but after a while their websites starts to look good. My site looks bad but to me it's good enough for what it's about.

Hey All,

I've been designing web sites for about 15 years now. Made a good living from it until the DOT COM bust !! If you have any questions..pm me.....I'd be glad to give a hand. Just ask Lyte about me !!! And yes.....Practice makes perfect. I use the old way.....notepad. No Dreamweaver or any other software.

I use Web Page Maker now. I used to use notepad but it took a long time to make web pages that way. With everyone in a hurry now-a-days, I have to get things done fast.
