Rep Power: 2 | Keeping several 404 pages for a short while I set up a new site recently, but I ended up creating number of 404 pages because the application I used (WordPress) had a bug. 404 pages will be replaced with valid content in time, but they will be there for a while. Is it ok to keep several 404 pages for a short while or it's no good for SEO?

Rep Power: 6 | I'm not sure what the down side would be. Maybe your Google rating might be dimished if its bots see all those 404's on the site?? I'm not sure.
What would the value be the advantages/purpose of keeping 404 pages??

Rep Power: 2 | Well, as I mentioned, this is a WordPress bug, and it hasn't been fixed. There are three options:
1. Wait until WordPress fixes this ...
2. Fix by myself ...
3. Just let it go.
I'm not so sure about 1. I'm not familiar with WordPress code to fix this, so 2 is not an option, either ...
Is there any value? No. Is there any advantage? No.

Rep Power: 2 | I think its always a good idea to have custom 404 pages instead of the bog standard ones, gives a site a more professional appearance |

Just to be honest, I didn't exactly plan to make this custom 404 page, but the way in which I modified the source code automatically created this custom 404 page.

Rep Power: 6 | How do you make a custom 404 page and how do you apply it to a forum? A custom page would be less annoying than one of those blank white ones..."Server can't be found." or whatever! I've been meaning to look into this! I've seen several sites with funny, crazy, etc... 404 pages!

EDIT: Loves this one - Bongo | What admin control panel do you use? If you use a admin control panel, you should be able to overwrite default error pages including 404. It's pretty straight forward. If not, you can do this manually also.
