I cant see it really being a revolution as some people are saying.

Rep Power: 4 | So its not really a technology in itself, but rather a collection of technologies? |

Rep Power: 4 | Yes, like most of the technologies that are out there , this is a collection of existing technologies, might be with added support like additional API written for java/C++/C# developers. |

Rep Power: 3 | It seems to be the new web design standard. It also seems to be the new age of the web. I'm a web designer and in "web design terms", well maybe only for it, it seems like it involved RSS, XHTML, CSS, and all that good stuff. Semantic HTML using CSS to lower the size of websites. RSS to syndicate a news page throughout many places. I really love RSS, though. One site can be syndicated throughout hundreds and hundreds of sites. |

As others have stated there is an official "web 2.0" out there though. I read an article about it in Popular Science or Popular Mechanics (forget which). Im pretty sure it is just mega fast but isnt going to be used by the average person for a long time. Theres something else to it also if I remember correctly. I'll check out the article again sometimes soon and post anything else that I find interesting. |

Web = sites on the network
Internet 2 is the super-fast network between a collection of college labs and high-tech firms (the telescopes in Hawaii can be controlled in Houston using Internet 2).
Web 2.0, read kelp's description I think he's right. |

Rep Power: 3 | Wow! I didnt know about this new technology. Looks pretty cool, thanks for all the great information. I wonder if it is actually going to become more popular and if it is actually going to be widely used.

Rep Power: 4 | Web 2.0 is just a collection of standards and technologies. Its not one particular thing on its own as many may suspect.
I dont believe it will take off in a big way, as it depends on too many factors, all of which are controlled by different forces (people). |
