Who knows what about CMS... Content Management System???

I own fratfarm.com which just BEGS to be built up like AllDumb or CollegeHumor

I'm guessing sites like these are run by CMS's along with a template. Anyone have experience with a CMS??

I have used PhpNuke, e107, Mambo, and now I am in love with Etomite. The thing I liek about it that I can redesign a template from scratch and insert the codes needed (chunks and snippents) .. it's easy and I have a total freedom.

Hey Dojo,

Welcome!

Do CMS come with any kind of coding already done for you? For example... I just have to upload a pic or video and the CMS knows where to put it? Or... is a lot of additional coding needed?

this really depends on what you want to do. most, have multimedia plugins or features were you can set this up in the admin panel such as mambo, joomla and e107 to name a few. but they are not all that great in my opinion. everyone I have ever used I heavily (spelling) moded it and added my own code/pages, but thats the great thing about them, you can use what they give you are do anything you want to them.

And if your wondering about collegehumor, thats a custom cms they made themselves.

Really? I'm always impressed when people do their own coding. Especially when it seems to complex as a CMS.

Cms

Hi. CMS does come with all the coding and good features. I used LDU, Seditio, but it stopped working for me. I also tried e107. If you want a custom CMS done, you either need to code it or pay someone to code it for you.

Regards.
