Driver Problem

I am using my on board soundcard [ with VIA chipset]. Now , actually I use Redhat linux. In this distro , system cant recognize my sound card. but in ubuntu , it can be gotten without any pain i mean its by default !

Now , is there any way I can copy those drivers from ubuntu to red hat linux so that , I can use sound card in Red hat Linux too ?

regards

It's Linux, you have the source code, you can do anything.

You could write a new driver for your soundcard from scratch.

But, it might be best to first troubleshoot RedHat.

What motherboard model do you have in that machine?

The Asus K8V-X motherboard includes an Analog Devices AD1980, 6-channel CODEC.

The AD1980 appears not to be nicely supported by RedHat Linux, and the recommended fix is to install the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture.

ALSA does support the AD1980.
